Privacy policy

PUTLAB, last updated 13 October 2026

VinPUT turns your speech into text. It collects no telemetry. Unless you sign in to VinPUT Pro, it has no account and PUTLAB receives no data from it.

Microphone

VinPUT records from the microphone only while you hold or have toggled a VinPUT hotkey, or while a program you run starts a session through its local API. The tray icon is red while it listens.

Where your audio goes

  • Local models (Whisper, Parakeet, Qwen3-ASR): audio is processed on your PC and never leaves it.
  • VinPUT Pro: only if you subscribe and choose this model. Audio is streamed over an encrypted connection to VinPUT's service in the EU, and from there to its speech provider in the EU, which recognizes it. VinPUT's service does not store audio or text.
  • Google Cloud Speech-to-Text: only if you choose this model. Audio is streamed to Google Cloud under your own Google Cloud project and credentials. Google's terms and privacy policy apply.
  • Google Gemini: only if you choose this model. Audio is streamed to Google's Gemini API with your own API key. Google's terms and privacy policy apply.

VinPUT sends audio nowhere else. Recognized text is typed into the window you chose, or handed to programs you connect through the local API, which only programs of your own Windows user can use. What is typed into a window is sent to those programs only if you switch that on under Settings, Advanced; it is off unless you do.

Cleanup and editing by voice

Cleanup tidies a dictation before it is typed, and editing by voice changes the text you selected the way you say. Both are off until you choose a cleanup for a key or set the edit key on the Cleanup page, or give one of your actions a cleanup. Where the text goes depends on the text model chosen on that page:

  • A text model on this PC (Gemma, Qwen): the text is rewritten on your PC and never leaves it.
  • VinPUT Plus and Pro: only if you subscribe and keep this model. The text is sent over an encrypted connection to VinPUT's service in the EU, which has it rewritten by a language model of its cloud provider in the EU and passes the result straight back to the app. What is sent is the dictated text, or for editing by voice the selected text and what you said to do with it, together with your languages and the kind of cleanup you chose. The cloud provider processes it only to write the result, on VinPUT's behalf, and does not use it to train models.

VinPUT's service does not store or log the text, what you said to do with it, or the result. Its log records only the kind of cleanup, how many characters went in and came out, and how long it took.

VinPUT Pro account

An account exists only if you sign in to VinPUT Pro, in the app or on the account page. You sign in with Google. VinPUT's service, which runs in the EU, stores:

  • the e-mail address of the account;
  • the state of the subscription;
  • the devices the account is signed in on;
  • the number of seconds of audio used each month.

It does not store what you say, what is typed or what is rewritten. You pay on the payment provider's page; the card details and the invoices are held by the payment provider. The account page keeps your sign-in in the browser you used, until you sign out there.

Voice memos

Saved as MP3 files in your Documents\Vinput memos folder. They stay there until you delete them.

Stored on your PC

Settings%APPDATA%\Vinput
API keys and the VinPUT Pro sign-inWindows Credential Manager, never in the settings file or the log
Local models%LOCALAPPDATA%\Vinput
Log file%APPDATA%\Vinput, for troubleshooting. It stays on your PC.

Network

Besides the online service you choose, VinPUT connects to the internet only to download local models you install (from their fixed release addresses) and, in the version from the VinPUT website, to check the site for a newer version. The Microsoft Store version does not check for updates itself; the Store updates it.

This website

The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics service. To know how many people visit, each page tells VinPUT's service in the EU which page it is and, when you came from another website, that website's address. A download link tells it which download you started. The service keeps only daily totals: views of each page, downloads of each product, and how many visitors came from each kind of website, such as a search engine or X. It keeps the name of that website, never the address of the page.

To count each visitor once a day, the service makes a code from your IP address and your browser's name, using a key that is different every day. The code cannot be turned back into either of them and is deleted after two days. Your IP address is not stored.

Removing data

Uninstall VinPUT and delete the folders above. Keys can be removed in the Windows Credential Manager.

A VinPUT Pro account is deleted on the account page, under Delete account. That removes the account, its sign-ins and its usage figures. Invoices for payments you made stay with the payment provider.
