Wispr Flow alternative for Windows
Dictation on Windows without a subscription.
Wispr Flow is a dictation app sold as a subscription, with a free plan that has a weekly dictation limit. VinPUT is the Windows voice typing app I make. It types what you say into the field you are in, and with a speech model on your PC it costs nothing and has no word limit.

Wispr Flow's column is how its own site listed it on 6 October 2026, except the free plan, which follows its help article as checked on 20 October 2026: the weekly dictation limit varies by platform and account. It may have changed, so check there before you decide.
On your PC or in the cloud
VinPUT has two ways to recognize speech. A model on your PC is free. Plus and Pro send audio to VinPUT's service in the EU instead: Plus is €2.50 a month for 8 hours, and Pro is €5 a month for 25 hours. Both show your words while you speak, in more than 60 languages. When the month's hours run out, a model on your PC carries on.
A model on your PC works at the speed of your PC. The Models page tells you, for each one, whether it runs well, may be slow or is too heavy for the machine you have.
If you are switching
These are the parts of VinPUT that matter first when you come from another dictation app:
- Under Hotkeys, F1 types what you say and F2 types it and presses Enter. Tap to start and stop, or hold while you talk.
- Under Words, a dictionary of up to 200 names and terms, and up to 100 snippets that expand a short phrase into a saved text.
- Under Cleanup, filler words and false starts can be taken out and punctuation fixed. It is off until you choose it for a key, and it needs a text model: Plus or Pro, or Gemma or Qwen on your PC.
- Edit by voice: select text, hold the edit key and say what to change.
Setup takes a few minutes. The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows shows Windows protected your PC; click More info, then Run anyway. Then open Settings, Models, download a model under On this PC and click Use.
What you give up
VinPUT has no Mac, iPhone or Android version. It types into any Windows program except one that runs as administrator, which Windows does not allow. Plus and Pro need the internet while you dictate. A model on your PC does not.

Yes, for dictation with a speech model on your PC. There is no time limit and no account. Plus and Pro are optional and add cloud hours.
Does VinPUT have a weekly word limit?
No. With a speech model on your PC, VinPUT has no word or time limit.
Can it take out filler words and fix punctuation?
Yes, with Cleanup, which you turn on for a key. It needs a text model: Plus or Pro, or Gemma or Qwen on your PC.
Does my voice leave my PC?
Not with a model on your PC. With Plus or Pro, audio goes over an encrypted connection to VinPUT's service in the EU, which stores neither audio nor text. The privacy policy has the details.
Is there a Mac or phone version?
No. VinPUT is for Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit.
