Vibe coding with your voice on Windows
Are you still typing your prompts?
If you build with a coding tool, most of your day is prompts: what you want, what broke, what to try next. That is talk, and most people say it faster than they type it. VinPUT types what you say into whatever has focus, so a spoken prompt lands in Cursor, in a terminal running Codex or in a chat box in the browser. I built F2 for the last step: it presses Enter for you, so the prompt goes out when you stop talking.
The keys
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| F1 | Types what you say. Tap to start and stop, or hold while you talk. |
| F2 | Types what you say, then presses Enter once the last words are in. |
| Enter | While a dictation is running, ends it. VinPUT holds the key back until the last words are typed, then presses it once. |
| Esc | Cancels the dictation. Nothing more is typed. |
You can change any of them under Settings, General, Hotkeys.
Make the prompt better as you say it
- Coding prompt cleanup. Under Settings, Cleanup, choose Coding prompt for the F2 key. Your dictation is rewritten as a coding prompt before it is typed. It is off until you choose it, and it needs a text model: Plus or Pro, or Gemma or Qwen on your PC.
- Names in code. Say snake case and then the words for
user_id, camel case foruserId, kebab case foruser-id, or all caps forUSER ID. - Your vocabulary. Add framework and library names to the dictionary, with a "sounds like" spelling when the model mishears one.
- Stock prompts. A snippet turns a short phrase such as "review checklist" into a saved text of up to 1000 characters.
Where it works
VinPUT types into any Windows program with a text field. The exception is a window that runs as administrator, because Windows does not allow it. If your terminal does not take the words, open it without administrator rights.
Check what Enter does in a box before you use F2 there. In most chat boxes Enter sends, so F2 sends. If you want to read the prompt first, use F1 and press Enter yourself.
Pick a speech model under Settings, Models: Whisper shows your words at each pause, while Parakeet and Qwen3-ASR type when you stop. Setup is described in the documentation.
Questions
Which programs can I dictate into?
Any Windows program with a text field: an editor, a terminal, a chat box in the browser. The one exception is a window that runs as administrator.
Does my prompt leave my PC?
Not with a model on your PC. Plus and Pro send audio over an encrypted connection to VinPUT's service in the EU, which stores neither audio nor text. See the privacy policy.
Will F2 send my prompt before I finish?
No. F2 presses Enter only when you stop the dictation, and only after the last words are typed. Esc cancels instead.
Is it free?
Yes, for dictation with a speech model on your PC, with no time limit and no account. Plus and Pro are optional and add cloud hours.
